07 Dec The 2nd Amendment
The 2nd Amendment was written by the Founders to protect the rights and property of U.S. citizens. Those reasons are still valid today.
“Amendment II: a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The 2nd Amendment doesn’t mention any specific type of weapon. It is not limited to only allowing muskets or other period weapons any more than the 1st Amendment limits free speech to manual printing presses. We are free to use the internet to express our opinions today just as we are free to use modern weapons to defend ourselves.
