17 May Review: When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan
Book: When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan
Author: Peggy Noonan
Why this is worth reading: Ms. Noonan does a great job of sharing a series of personal stories about our 40th President. Not only is Ronald Reagan one of conservatives’ favorite icons, he’s simply one of the best leaders in American history. When Character Was King demonstrates in story after story that it was Reagan’s character that allowed him to rise from childhood poverty, to Hollywood, to Sacramento, to Washington, D.C. The way Reagan treated his fellow human beings, with love and respect, is a major reason why his nation loves and respects the Gipper. To Reagan, character was king, and that’s what allowed him to become President.
